Anguilliform

About this Tag

Anguilliform swimmers have highly flexible bodies and almost all forward movement originates in the contraction of body musculature. When when swimming, most of the body length undulates resulting in the formation of more than half of a sinusoidal (S-shaped) wave form. Because so much of the body participates, it is a relatively inefficient swimming mode and high speed is impossible.
