Remarks:
The family Icosteidae contains a single species, the North Pacific ragfish, Icosteus aenigmaticus. Ragfishes have slender and highly compressed body and a skeleton which is made up of mostly cartilaginous. The scales and the pelvic fins are completely lacking in adults. They can grow to a maximum reported length of 2 m.
This family comprises only one species, Icosteus aenigmaticus.
