Distribution:
Circumglobal, except mid-Indian and mid-Pacific Oceans.
Habitat:

Remarks:
The Centrolophid medusa fishes are distributed circumglobally in tropical to subtropical waters. These pelagic fishes have deep, compressed body, rounded snout, large eyes, and large mouth with 1 row of conical teeth on jaws and no teeth on upper mouth. There is one continuous dorsal fin. The body is covered with smooth and small scales except for the head. Medusa fishes are found primarily in deep water.
This family consists of seven genera, with about 28 species.
